Ward-Hyatt
Miranda Leigh Ward and Sherman Douglas Hyatt II exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 29, 2012, at 5 p.m. at River Landing in Wallace, with the Rev. Henry Swanzey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Barbara Coley Ward and the late Michael Richard Ward of Calypso and the granddaughter of Warren and Wilma Kornegay Jones of Mount Olive and the late Ralph and Joyce Goodwin Coley of Mount Olive.
She is a graduate of North Duplin High School and a graduate of Wayne Community College as a certified dental assistant. She is currently attending Wayne Community College pursuing a degree in dental hygiene.
The groom is the son of Sherman Douglas and Jackie Smith Hyatt of Mount Olive and the grandson of the late Emmett and Shirley Strickland Ballree of Mount Olive and the late Jack and Viola Harper Smith of Mount Olive.
He is a graduate of North Duplin High School and a graduate of Johnston Community College. He is employed as a registered technologist radiographer at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her mother.
She wore an elegant formal white crystal satin gown designed with a sweetheart strapless neckline. The princess trumpet gown was adorned with pleats along the bodice and enhanced with crystal beading. The hemline was accented with crystal beading above two satin bands while satin covered buttons finished the look of the chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a white fingertip single-tiered veil of silk illusion outlined with crystal beading.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of red Gerber daisies, green miniature hydrangeas, green hypericum berries, orange spray roses and white monte casino. The stems were wrapped with variegated green/white aspidistra leaves.
Meredith Ward Kelly, sister of the bride, and Lisa Carlson Worley, cousin of the bride, served as matrons of honor, while Kelly Rose Beasley, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rhonda Hyatt Creech and Crystal Hyatt Crews, sisters of the groom, and Amberly Scott Herring and Kathryn Elizabeth Swanzey, friends of the bride. Honorary bridesmaids were Chasity Rouse Smith and Kesley Brooks Price, friends of the bride.
Sherman Douglas Hyatt was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Tony Ray Creech and David Allen Crews, brothers-in-law of the groom, and Phillip Brandon Smith, Benjamin Jack Smith, Matthew Clayton Moore, and Timothy Lee Wolfe, cousins of the groom.
Ushers were Will Robert Kelly, brother-in-law of the bride, and Daniel Clinton Cates, Matthew Phillip Sasser and William Douglas Lewis, friends of the groom.
Brittany Nicole Sutton, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Diane Coley Carlson, aunt of the bride. Relma Morris Smith Jr. and Rosamond Coley Smith, uncle and aunt of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Travis Creech, and vocalist, Tracey Grimes-Lane.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother hosted a dinner and dance reception in the ballroom at River Landing. Cheryl Ward Sutton and Diane Coley Carlson, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple resides in the Mount Olive area.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Mad Boar Restaurant in Wallace.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower hosted by aunts of the bride at Stanford Presbyterian Church; a miscellaneous shower hosted by the groom’s family at the home of Crystal Hyatt Crews; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower in Raleigh hosted by Rhonda Hyatt Creech; a bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by Lisa Carlson Worley at her home; and a bachelor weekend hosted by friends of the groom in Wrightsville Beach.
