Carter - Walker
MOREHEAD CITY — Caroline Jolene Walker of Raleigh and Chad Michael Carter of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Andrea Woodhouse officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Thomas Walker Jr. of Morehead City and the granddaughter of Mrs. W.T. Walker Sr., and the late Dr. Walker of Kernersville and Hilda Hollowell Howell and the late Murray Stephens Howell of Goldsboro.
She is a graduate of West Carteret High School and a cum laude graduate of North Carolina State College of Design and Meredith College with degrees in art and design and interior design. She was presented at the 2000 North Carolina Debutante Ball. She is employed as an interior designer in Raleigh.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michael Carter of Louisburg and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Earl Carter of Bunn and Mrs. Sam Jones Beasley and the late Mr. Beasley of Louisburg.
He is a graduate of Louisburg High School and North Carolina State University with degrees in agricultural business and livestock management. He is employed with North Carolina State University as an agricultural research specialist.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a trumpet-style gown of ivory silk duchess satin topped by a sleeveless Alencon lace bodice with a V-neckline and keyhole back. Her chapel-length train was accented with covered buttons. She wore pearl and diamond earrings, a gift from the groom.
Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil accented with Alencon lace that belonged to her maternal aunt.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of cream roses and orchids along with her Christening bonnet and a cross tatted by the groom’s maternal grandmother.
Sarah Rives Shelton of Morehead City was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Cassidy Swanson Plunkett, Lindsay Abada Kassir and Lindsey Moorefield Howard of Raleigh, Rebecca Johnson Smith of Smithfield, Heather Caudle Gill of Greensboro, Sarah Hedgspeth Foster of Durham, Meredyth Whitford of Boston, Mass., Cathy Hecox of Wake Forest, sister of the groom, Jessica Leeanne Burge of Burlington and Jennifer Louise Drelick of Charlotte.
Charles Carter was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Christopher Stephen Carter of Louisburg, brother of the groom; William Thomas Walker III of Charlotte and David Glenn Walker of Chapel Hill, brothers of the bride; Jonathan Ryan Holmes of Davidson and Bryan Coleman Jolliff of Columbia, S.C., cousins of the groom; John David Rock, John Matthew Canterbury, and Bradley Daryle Mickey of Raleigh; Brandon Jones of Hickory; and Ben Riggan of Frisco, Colo.
Parker Joy Davis of Durham, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Carter David Hecox of Wake Forest, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Loretta Baily directed the wedding, assisted by Nancy Baily. Presiding at the register and greeting guests were Dr. Rebecca Lynn Goodman of Essex Junction, Vt., and Carole Davies Compton of Morehead City.
A program of wedding music was presented by Dr. John O’Brien, Anne Searl and Bob Hollatschek, and Elana Thompson McClure, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Dunes Club in Atlantic Beach.
After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores, followed by a dance hosted by friends and relatives of the bride’s parents.
