Whitfield - Pridgen
LAGRANGE — Janice Marie Pridgen and Emmitt Devon Whitfield of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 13 at 3 p.m. at Wedding Bells Chapel, with Derrick Oates officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Scarlet Pridgen and the late Willie Pridgen of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late John of LaGrange and Rosa Pridgen, Dorothy Jones and the late Roosevelt Wooten of Goldsboro.
She is a 1991 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2000 graduate of Wayne Community College.
The groom is the son of Delois Whitley and Warnela Whitley and the late Emmitt Jr. Whitfield of Mount Olive and the grandson of Esther Williams of Calypso, the late Emmitt Whitfield Sr. of Pougkeepsie, N.Y., and the late Johnny and Claretha Lamb of Mount Olive.
He is a 1992 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2008 graduate of Connecticut Culinary Institute.
The bride was escorted by her uncle, Larry Pridgen, and given in marriage by her mother and Larry Pridgen.
She wore a white satin A-line gown with a side-draped bodice and a symmetrical skirt.
Her headpiece was a tiara of crystals and rhinestones with an attached lace veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of honeydew and white roses accented with lilies.
Angela Floyd was her sister’s matron of honor, while
Bridesmaids were Jazmine Mathis, daughter of the bride, and Kwa-Weisha Floyd, niece of the bride.
Anthony Lamb was his cousin’s best man.
Groomsmen were Andra Pridgen, brother of the bride, and Deandre Mathis, son of the bride.
Dymond Floyd, niece of the bride, was flower girl.
Sharita Oates directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Destiny Floyd, niece of the bride, and Sherrida Haddock, cousin of the bride. Destiny Floyd, niece of the bride, and Sherrida Haddock, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
Special attendants were Gloria Strickland, godmother of bride, and Gloria Pate, friend of the bride.
Following the ceremony, Glenda Kornegay, friend of the bride, hosted a reception at Quality Inn and Suites.
After a wedding trip to Wilmington, the couple resides in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower at the home of Angela Floyd, sister of the bride, hosted by Ms. Floyd.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Bahama Breeze in Raleigh.
