PRINCETON — Christina Michelle Charles and Matthew David Langley exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at Princeton Church of God, with the Rev. Andy Stovall officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jeffery Leonard and Brenda Gail Charles of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Glenn and Annie Ruth Roberts Edgerton, the late Urban J. Roberts, Harril “Charlie” Charles and the late Lucille Helen Charles of Goldsboro.
She is a 2005 honor graduate of Faith Christian Academy and a December 2008 honor graduate of Barton College with a degree in business management and human resource management. She is a member of and the treasurer for the Society of Human Resource Management for Barton College. She is employed as an office manager at Lee Chemical Supply.
The groom is the son of Jerry Ray and Lynn Jones Langley of Pikeville and the grandson of Andy and Edna Jones Oakley of Dudley, the late John X. Jones of Warsaw and David Bruce and Evelyn Lane Langley of Wilson.
He is a 2004 graduate of Wayne Christian School. He is a member of Pikeville Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He is employed as a senior maintenance worker with the city of Goldsboro municipal golf course.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of diamond white with a sweetheart neckline accented with beaded spaghetti straps. The fitted bodice was enhanced with a symmetrical shirring adorned with beaded Schiffli lace and sequins. The back bodice featured a lace-up corset back. The full A-line skirt of tulle was adorned with beaded lace at the hemline and cascaded into a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a comb of rhinestones and pearls that extended into a two-tiered veil of silk illusion enhanced with scattered pearls with a penciled edge.
Melissa Anne Charles was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Wendy Johnson of Raleigh, Amber Stott of Wilson, Christin Atwater of Mebane and Tara Smith of Princeton, friends of the bride.
Jerry Ray Langley was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Robert Bridgers of Dudley, Doug Anderson and Michael Coor of Goldsboro and Josh Woodard of Princeton, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Bobby Allison and Dave Douglas of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, and David Langley of Wilson and Gerald Myers of Pikeville, uncles of the groom.
Rachel Langley of Wilson, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Austin Booth of Pikeville, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.
Amy Zieverink directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Denise Allison of Goldsboro, friend of the couple. Donna Douglas of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by pianist Stephen Christopher Charles of Tampa, Fla., brother of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at Lane Tree Country Club. Rick and Charlotte Charles of Goldsboro, uncle and aunt of the bride, poured punch. Connie Myers of Pikeville, aunt of the groom, and Shannon Booth of Pikeville, cousin of the groom, served the four-layered wedding cake with dot and scroll designs with flowers.
After a wedding trip to Walt Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort in Florida, the couple resides in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included a Pampered Chef shower Jan. 11 at the home of David and Darlene Langley hosted by Darlene Langley of Wilson, aunt of the groom; a girls’ night out party Jan. 3 to Kobe’s in Smithfield and a lingerie shower and slumber party at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by the maid of honor and bridesmaids; a Christmas shower Dec. 14 at the home of Gerald and Connie Myers of Pikeville hosted by the groom’s family; a tool party Dec. 13 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by Robert Bridgers of Dudley, friend of the groom, and Jeffery Charles of Goldsboro, father of the bride; a wedding shower Dec. 7 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by Melissa Anne Charles of Goldsboro, sister of the bride; a wedding shower Nov. 9 at Fremont Free Will Baptist Church hosted by Shannon Booth of Pikeville, cousin of the groom, and Connie Myers of Pikeville, aunt of the groom; and an engagement party April 5 hosted by the bride’s parents.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Jan. 23 at the Steak Barn.
