Johanna Lynn Poole and Brandon Earl Windham exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. at Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Wayne Goff officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jay Faison and BrendaLynn “Lynn” Fail of Pikeville, the granddaughter of Brenda C. Woodson of Clarksville, Va., and Charles “C.B.” and Laura Fail of Pikeville, the great-granddaughter of the late Roger Woodson of Gretna, Va., and the late Mildred Rowland Woodson Francis and the stepgreat-granddaughter of the late Cordell Francis of Nathalie, Va.
She is a 2005 honor graduate of Rosewood High School. She attended Johnston Community College’s medical program and attends Wayne Community College for a nursing degree. She is employed at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
The groom is the son of Edward Leon “Eddie” and Debbie Peele Lewis of Pikeville, the grandson of Leon “Buck” and Geraldine Peele and Ruth Lewis of Pikeville and the great-grandson of the late Beulah Carter Johnson of Pikeville.
He is a 2003 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is employed as an assistant store manager with Food Lion of Pikeville.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her family.
She wore a formal gown of white satin with a scoop neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with iridescent sequins and white pearl beading. The full skirt flowed into a cathedral-length train adored with iridescent sequins and white pearl beading.
Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara attached to a single-tiered elbow-length veil accented with white pearl trimming and scattered pearls. She also wore a white pearl necklace and matching pearl earrings.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of red and white roses accented with red baby’s breath and white gardenias, delphiniums, white baby’s breath and wedding bell flowers.
Kelly Musgrave Poole of Pikeville was her sister-in-law’s matron of honor, while Marsha Renee Bullock of Goldsboro was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Janessa Gossett of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, and Amanda Marie Turnage of Pikeville, cousin of the bride.
Eddie Lewis, father of the groom, and Jeff Peele of Pikeville, uncle of the groom, were best men.
Groomsmen were Joshua Larry Poole of Pikeville and Joey Dean Poole of Goldsboro, brothers of the bride.
Morgan Alexis Evans of Pikeville, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Garrett Edward Lewis of Pikeville, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer. Logan Turnage of Pikeville, cousin of the bride, was honorary ringbearer.
Kimberly Fail Evans of Pikeville, aunt of the bride, was mistress of ceremonies.
Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Karen Pate Peele of Pikeville, aunt of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Martin Earl Evans of Pikeville, uncle of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a pig picking reception in the church fellowship hall. Jerry and Mildred Woodson, great-uncle and great-aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Servers were Terry Byrd and Ronnie Jones, friends of the couple; Sharon Paine, aunt of the bride; Libby Gainey, Sheila Lewis and Nancy Sanders, aunts of the groom. Rexann Durham, Amy Bonifas and Cecila Finison, friends of the couple, served the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple reside in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included a girls’ night out and lingerie shower Dec. 14 at Texas Steakhouse hosted by the bride’s mother; a bridal shower Nov. 10 at Belfast Church hosted by the groom’s mother and grandmother, Geraldine Peele; a Christmas shower Nov. 4 at the future home of the bride hosted by Lynn Fail, Kelly Musgrave, Renee Bullock and Kim Evans; a miscellaneous shower Oct. 14 at the home of Wendy Weaver hosted by Donna Amon and Wendy Weaver, co-workers of the bride; and a housewarming shower April 21 at the home of the couple hosted by Debbie Lewis, Geraldine Peele and Lynn Fail.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Jan. 4 at Belfast Church fellowship hall.
