Gardner-Hollowell
PIKEVILLE — Cathy Joie Hollowell of Pikeville and Joey Edward Gardner exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 14 at 11 a.m. by the pool at the home of the groom, with the Rev Tim Sharp officiating.
The bride is the daughter of the late Milford Edgar Hollowell and Bobbie Lee Hester Patterson and the granddaughter of the late Herman Milford and Sallie Sutton Hollowell and the late Luby and Hettie Virginia Hayes Hester.
She is a 1976 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 1987 graduate of Wayne Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in accounting and business administration. She is employed as an enforcement agent II at the Wayne County Department of Social Services.
The groom is the son of James “Hoss” Edward and Dorothy Mae Thorn Gardner of Pikeville and the grandson of the late Theodore and Nina Pate Gardner and the late Aaron A. and Rosie Mae Wise Thorn of Sampson, Ala.
He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1976. He is employed as a truck driver at Kraft Nabisco Foods.
The bride was given in marriage by her son, Leslie Pearce, and daughter, Ashlee Pearce.
She wore a green and white sundress.
She carried a bouquet of white roses tied with love knots.
Special helpers were Dorothy, Sherry, Natalie Gardner, Tammy Hill, Ashlee Pearce and Joyce Craft.
Following the ceremony, a poolside reception was held.
The couple will take a wedding trip to the Biltmore House, zoo and mountains in October. They reside in Pikeville.
