Valencia Renee Smith and Jason Norman Carter of Goldsboro said their promises March 25 at 2 p.m.
Glenn Everett officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Daniels United Methodist Church.
Parents of the bride are Charles and LaVera Smith of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Al and Orlena Rogers of Rockford, Ill.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a long-sleeved ivory ballgown of illusion tulle with a fitted bodice of lace and pearls attached to a satin train overlaid in lace and pearls.
For her headpiece, she chose a pearl and sequin tiara to match the gown bodice with a tulle illusion veil with pearls and sequins.
Debbie Mewborn of Goldsboro was matron of honor.
Chad Nipper of Raleigh was best man. Ushers were Steve Belmonte of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Steve White of Dover.
Rachel Mellen of Rockford was flower girl.
Jean Epps directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kim Kennedy.
A program of wedding music was provided by Gladys Wells of Goldsboro, organist; Pam Lowery of Goldsboro, vocalist; and Paul and DeAnna Collard, sound technicians.
After a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a graduate of Ft. Meade High School of Maryland. She is a stay-at-home mother.
The groom graduated from East Wake High School. He attended college in Kansas City. He is employed as a PDR technician at Five-Star Dent Removal.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at DunLeaveys.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Billie’s Backstreet.
