Clark - Sawyer
Tracie Nicole Sawyer and Brock Harper Clark exchanged promises Saturday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Joseph Brown officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Sawyer Jr. of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Janie Love and the late William Love of Mebane, the late Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Sawyer of Kinston and Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Ware of Fayetteville.
The groom is the son of Camilla P. Clark and the late Richard H. Clark of Charlotte. He is the grandson of Marguerite Clark, the late John Clark, James K. Polk and the late Dorothy Polk of Charlotte.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a diamond white satin halter dress with silver crystal beading and a chapel-length train embroidered with silver designs.
For her headpiece, she chose a fingertip-length veil with a tiara of rhinestones and crystals. She carried a bouquet of roses and calla lilies.
Chandra Shackleford of Charlotte, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Davis of Atlanta, Ga., and Pamela Dixon of Philadelphia, Pa., sorority sisters of the bride, and LaFreda Sawyer of Kinston, cousin of the bride.
Demetrius Simmons of Durham was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Derrick Davis, Vantearious Ratchford, Melvin Rowell and Antonio Watson of Charlotte, friends of the groom. Ushers were Tremaine Sawyer of Durham, brother of the bride, and Ricardo Santana of Fayetteville, cousin of the bride.
Jordan Neal, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Shirley Richardson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tomekia Hutchins, friend of the bride.
Nicole Sawyer, cousin of the bride, and Megan Casey, friend of the bride, greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Benjamin Johnson, and Renita Allen, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Turks and Caicos Islands, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
The bride is a graduate of Goldsboro High School, North Carolina Central University with a bachelor of arts degree and the University of Maryland at College Park with a master of arts degree. She attends the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a doctorate degree. She is employed as a communication instructor at Central Piedmont Community College of Charlotte.
The groom graduated from Olympic High School of Charlotte and North Carolina University with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He is employed as a risk analyst with Wachovia Bank of Charlotte.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club. Hostesses were S. Nicole Branch, Donna Carlton and M. Nicole Smith. Jacqueline Santana, aunt of the bride, presided at the gift table.
On Nov. 11, the groom’s mother and sisters, Joy Clark James and Crystal Neal held a rehearsal dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. David B. Sanders, friends of the groom’s family, held a prenuptial celebration dinner Nov. 6.
On Nov. 5, friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Charlotte.
Friends of the bride held a bachelorette party Nov. 5 in Atlanta, Ga.
On Oct. 22, the bridal party and aunts of the groom held a bridal shower at the home of Chandra Shackleford.
Coworkers of the bride held an engagement party and boating expedition Sept. 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Childress in Lake Tillery.
