Hamm - Gurley
Kelli Renee Gurley and the Rev. Michael Kent Hamm pledged their wedding vows Saturday, June 4, at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Byron C. Murray officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Coker Memorial Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Parents of the bride are William P. and Laura Gurley of LaGrange. She is the granddaughter of Eleanor Pope, the late Gurney Pope, Patsy Creech Gurley and the late Billy Franklin Gurley of Goldsboro.
Parents of the groom are William and Connie Joyner of Goldsboro and Marty and Donna Hamm of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Dollie Capps and the late Guy Capps of Goldsboro, Earl Hamm of Florida and the late Hazel Hamm.
Presented in marriage by her parents and brother and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal strapless gown of tulle over satin. The embroidered bodice was adorned with beaded lace, which also encircled a scalloped hem of satin that cascaded into a semi-cathedral-length train. The back featured an extended row of covered buttons.
For her headpiece, she chose a one-tiered fingertip-length veil with a finished edge. She carried a clutch bouquet of white roses, lilies, lisianthus and freesia.
Ginni Jo Sutton of Goldsboro was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Brock and Kerri Johnson of Goldsboro and Amber Coker of LaGrange, friends of the bride.
Marty Hamm was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Michael Price and Eric Murray of Goldsboro, friends of the groom, and Chad Gurley of LaGrange, brother of the bride.
Caraleigh Mewborn, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Michael Wiggins, cousin of the bride, was the junior groomsman.
Honorary bridesmaids were Miranda Mears of Southern Pines and Kali Smith of Goldsboro.
Ushers were Joseph Capps and Bryan Capps, cousins of the groom.
Cindy Jackson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Lori Mitchell. Chris Capps distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Randy Barker, pianist; Angela Tatum, vocalist; and Tim Inman, guitarist.
After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, a 2003 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate of science degree and a 2005 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics education. She will be employed with Charles B. Aycock High School.
The groom graduated from Rosewood High School in 1997, Wayne Community College in 1999 with an associate of arts degree and Heritage Bible College in 2002 with a bachelor of religious education. He is employed by Coker Memorial Church as youth pastor and with Ram Rent-All.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the church. Ron and Michelle Hill, friends of the couple, said good-byes. Kellen Capps and Angie Britt were servers. Kari Jackson distributed flower petals.
On June 3, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Christie Wiggins and Cindy Jackson held an outdoor bridesmaids’ luncheon May 21 at the Wiggins home.
On May 21, Ginni Jo Sutton held a bachelorette party in Wrightsville Beach.
Three-D youth ministries of Coker Memorial Church held a shower May 4 in the fellowship hall.
On April 24, Cindy Jackson and Christie Wiggins, family of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower at the Wiggins home.
Angie Britt, Annette Gurley and Nell Browder, family of the bride, held a floating shower April 10 at the Britt home.
On April 3, Coker Memorial ladies auxiliary held a miscellaneous shower in the fellowship hall.
The groom’s family held a miscellaneous shower March 20 at Goldsboro Worship Center.
On Dec. 11, Michelle Hill, Diane Brock and Lori Mitchell, friends and church family, held a Christmas shower at the Hill home.
