PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock played host to an eight-team volleyball scrimmage on Saturday.
The day-long affair involved not only the Golden Falcons, but county rivals Eastern Wayne, Rosewood, Spring Creek, Wayne Country Day and Wayne Christian.
Hunt and Ayden-Grifton also participated.
The teams combined to play 26 matches that were broken up into two 20-minute sets. Two courts were used.
WCDS and Wayne Christian open their respective 2018 campaigns Friday in a four-team, round-robin tournament hosted by Wayne Country Day. The Eagles have a new head varsity coach this season, Jessica Rowe.
CBA, Eastern Wayne, Spring Creek and Rosewood are scheduled to start their 2018 seasons either on or after Aug. 13. SC and Rosewood each have a new head varsity coach. The Gators are led by Chris Stewart, while the Eagles' new skipper is Wade Johnson.
