WAYNE COUNTY DRAGSTRIP: Alston tops 26-car field

Goldsboro's William "Jaws" Alston took round one of the Triple Crown Mod E/T Challenge at Wayne County Dragstrip on Saturday evening.
Mark Pittman of Micro finished runner-up in his Nova, while Grantham's Myles Davis advanced to the semifinals in his S10.
A total of 26 drivers competed with a $1,200 first prize at stakes.
Kenly's Jimmy Stephens won the Stick Shift Shootout.
Pikeville's Brandon Cline was runner-up.
Rounds two and three of the Triple Crown Mod E/T Challenge are June 30 and July 7, respectively. The Crown champion has a chance to pocket a total of $5,000.
