A two-match win streak?

With a young team?

Eddie Maldonado will take it and cash it in the bank any day.

Ironically his son, Hayden, notched the game-winning goal in the 57th minute as Rosewood upended Goldsboro, 3-1, at Cougar Stadium on Monday evening.

The Eagles (2-1-0 overall) swept the season series and plays host to county rival Spring Creek today. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Branch Pope Field.

Goldsboro fell to 0-2-1.

"We've been video-taping, so we're going to watch some film tomorrow," coach Maldonado said. "We'll see if maybe that will help a little bit. It will be interesting."

A pair of teams depleted by graduation, the Eagles and Cougars battled to a 1-1 draw at intermission.

Gio Abril scored off of Noah Bates' assist in the 21st minute. Goldsboro junior forward Colin Williams provided the equalizer somewhere in the 34th minute.

After the break, Rosewood drew a corner kick in the 54th minute. Logan Mitchell delivered the ball into the box for Hayden Maldonado, who tucked away his first goal of 2017.

Abril and Bates hooked up again in the 57th minute.

Goldsboro continues play Wednesday at Greene Central.
