BOYS' SOCCER: Goldsboro seizes ECC 2A lead

KINSTON -- Senior Freselam Halefe notched a pair of goals as Goldsboro hammered Kinston, 4-0, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference game Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars, coupled with Greene Central's loss, seized sole possession of the ECC lead at 8-1-0. They conclude regular-season play at home today against South Lenoir.
Ruben Quiroz and Sam de Araujo each contributed one goal in the road win. Isaiah Griggs, Thomas West and Xan Pate posted one assist apiece.
GHS goalie Chandler Patrick recorded three saves.
One day earlier, Quiroz collected three points -- one goal, one assist -- as Goldsboro turned back North Lenoir, 2-1, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference game.
Aaron Seate contributed one goal for the Cougars.
Patrick notched 11 saves.
Goldsboro is now 9-7-2 overall.
