Princeton trips up SSS in 5th inning

PRINCETON -- Princeton pushed across two fifth-inning runs and knocked off county rival Smithfield-Selma, 3-1, on the Fred Bartholomew Jr. Athletic Complex on Monday evening.
Hunter Mitchell led the Bulldogs' offense with two hits and two walks. Mason Rachels, Tyler Ricks and Alan Hickman delivered an RBI apiece.
Ricky Bartholomew threw 41/3 innings and claimed the mound win. Michael Boyette earned the save with 22/3 innings of relief. The duo held SSS to just six hits and combined for five strikeouts.
Princeton's fifth-inning rally broke a 1-1 tie.
