PIKEVILLE -- The N.C. Baseball Coaches Association bestowed three honors upon the Charles B. Aycock baseball program.
Head coach Charles Davis received the Region 2 Coach-of-the-Year award and was honored for 25 years of service with the Golden Falcons' program, which has made three appearances in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A championship series since 2007.
Aycock won the state title in 2007, and finished runner-up in 2012 and 2015.
"(I'm) very humbled and honored that the coaches in region two selected me as region two coach of the year," Davis said. "Again, I need to thank my players and assistant coaches for making this possible. Being at CBA for 25 years has been a blessing.
"(The) total support of the administrators, past and present players and their parents, and my assistant coaches have all made this possible. It has gone by quickly and (I) have thoroughly enjoyed coaching at CBA."
The NCBCA also recognized Charles Davis Field as the Region 2 Field-of-the-Year.
"(I'm) very happy for our school, community, players and coaches who have all been a part of upgrading our facilities," said Davis, who has 472 career wins. "It takes everyone on the same page to make this happen. (I'm) very proud of our facility."
