Hines collects triple-double in UMO road win

MISENHEIMER -- Dory Hines recorded the first triple-double in University of Mount Olive men's basketball history during an 86-65 victory over in-state Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University at Merner Gym on Wednesday evening.
Hines finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Trojans, who extended their win streak to five games. Heading into the game, Hines had four double-doubles this season and narrowly missed a triple-double on two occasions.
Hines is the second Trojan basketball player -- male or female -- to record a triple-double this season. Jasmine McDonald had 16 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists against Virginia Union on Dec. 8, which was the third triple-double in UMO women's basketball history.
Dontrell Brite led five Trojans in double figures with 14 points, while Dominique Reed finished with 12 points. Jordan McCain and John Weiland added 11 points apiece.
Mount Olive went 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) from 3-point range and shot 55.0 percent (33-for-60) overall from the field.
The Trojans (13-7) improved to 7-3 in league play this season.
Women
MISENHEIMER -- Katie Paschal turned in an all-around floor game during the University of Mount Olive's 88-56 romp over in-state Conference Carolinas women's basketball foe Pfeiffer University on Wednesday evening.
Paschal scored 19 points, dished out three assists and pulled down nine rebounds. Jasmine McDonald contributed 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Ty Wallace added 12 points. Anamaria Zjacic was the final Trojan play to finish in double figures with 10 points. Thirteen UMO players scored at least two points in the contest.
The Trojans (13-7 overall, 8-4 overall) put their five-game win streak on the line Saturday at league rival King (Tenn.) University.
