MOC's online auction to help fund track facility

Would you like to watch a college game from the coach's bench?
Does playing a round of golf with a former PGA professional sound interesting -- maybe just a bit intimidating?
Or how about a training session with some of the nation's top NCAA Division II cross country/track athletes?
The Mount Olive College athletics department is offering those items up for bid and more with an online auction to help raise money for Phase I construction of a new track facility on campus.
Bids to experience either a men's or women's soccer, or either a women's or men's volleyball match end Monday at noon. The current bid for each is $100.
Undoubtedly, the best-kept secret in eastern North Carolina, Mount Olive College has gained athletic notoriety on the regional and national scene in every sport. The online auction is a perfect opportunity get an inside view of your favorite team on campus, and build a rapport with a talented coaching staff.
Other items up for bid which may include MOC apparel and merchandise, and guest tickets for home games are:
* VIP sport lesson -- A 30-minute private tutoring session with a coach from the sport of your choice.
* Baseball/softball VIP game day -- You'll watch the game from the dugout. Maybe you'll accompany head coaches Carl Lancaster and Jaime Kylis to home plate when they give the umpires their lineups and explain the ground rules about their respective facilities.
* Basketball VIP game day -- Join either the men's or women's basketball team on the bench. And yes, you get to listen to the coaches during timeouts.
* Golf VIP experience -- Play a round with MOC coaches Chip Spiron and former PGA pro Clarence Rose.
* Lacrosse VIP game day -- Watch this fast-paced, high-scoring sport with the coaches and players on the sideline.
* Tennis VIP experience -- Challenge MOC head coach Kevin Coghill to a singles match, or invite a friend to play doubles against Coghill and a Trojan tennis player.
* Track and field/cross country VIP -- Take a distance training run with the Trojans' coaches. They just might bring along sophomore Dylan Lafond, who is re-writing every record in the program's history books.
Each bid starts at $100.
