SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek sent its seniors out in style.

Each of the Gators' senior position players scored a goal in a 9-1 victory over Goldsboro on Monday evening. Spring Creek clinched its fourth consecutive Carolina 1-A Conference championship and fifth overall in the last six years.

If the Gators defeat Ayden-Grifton in their regular-season finale Wednesday, they will complete their fourth straight year without a loss in league play.

"These guys have had a lot of success over their careers and tonight was a great way to cap it off," Spring Creek head coach Amanda Ramford said. "Every guy that went out there got a goal except for our keeper and we were going to try to get him out of the net so he could try to get one, but he forgot his regular jersey in his locker after school."

Spring Creek got on the board in the 11th minute when Salatel Careeno scored on an assist by Antonio Avila. Goldsboro tied the game in the 25th minute when Kyle Kyker connected with Jeffrey Martinez, who slipped a shot passed the Gators' keeper.

Just 30 seconds later, Spring Creek regained the lead on a goal by Omar Zavela that hit the mark off an assist by Careeno. The Gators increased the lead to 3-1 on a second goal by Careeno. Erick Fuentez made the score 4-1 before the intermission when he linked up with Avila.

"It was a good night for our offense, but that doesn't mean that we did everything perfect," Gators assistant coach Dante Ortiz said. "We still have to fix the defense and get better at clearing the ball before the playoffs start if we want to win."

Spring Creek picked up right where it left off after halftime.

Gildardo Victoriano scored in the loose ball in the 54th minute. Omar Zavela put a goal in the net in the 56th minute and Jesus Marcia picked up a goal in the 60th minute. Edgardo Rangel scored a pair of goals in the final eight minutes to complete the 9-1 total.

Spring Creek (9-3-2 overall, 7-0-0 CC) travels to Ayden-Grifton on Wednesday, while Goldsboro (1-14-0, 0-7-0) plays host to Princeton the same night.
