Boys' soccer
North Lenoir 9, Southern Wayne 0
* LaGRANGE -- Caleb Baird recorded his fourth shutout of the seaosn as North Lenoir controlled Southern Wayne 9-0 on Monday night.
Chastin Radford fired home a hat trick (three goals) in the victory. Tyler Gray, Jake Olejniczak, Justin Shimer, Oscar Navarette and Filiberto Gonzalez also scored for the Hawks.
Navarette, Gonzalez and Olejniczak each added an assist.
North Lenoir (13-2-1 overall, 8-1-1 ECC) will travel to C.B. Aycock tonight. The Hawks will wrap up conference play at Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.
Rosewood 2, Goldsboro 1
* Rosewood scored twice in the second half en route to a 2-1 win over Goldsboro on the Carolina 1-A Conference soccer scene Monday.
After allowing an early goal, the Eagles stepped up.
Dee Mabry scored off a corner kick by Tan Truong to tie the game after the intermission. Truong put the Eagles ahead when he buried a penalty kick.
Rosewood entertains Spring Creek on Wednesday.
Spring Creek 2, Princeton 0
* SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek recorded a shutout over Carolina 1-A Conference rival Princeton on Monday night.
Omar Zavila and Antonio Avila each recorded one goal for the Gators.
Spring Creek travels to Rosewood on Wednesday.
Epiphany 4, Wayne Country Day 2
* NEW BERN -- Wayne Country Day concluded regular-season play with a 4-2 loss to The Epiphany School in a Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference match Monday.
Jack Langston and Miller Gerard each tallied a goal for the Chargers. Cody Neal recorded one assist.
Wayne Country Day fell to 8-6-3 overall.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Dillard 25-7, 25-4 and 23-25, 25-14, 25-16 -- Rosewood swept a doubleheader against Dillard on Monday afternoon. Hannah Daniels led the Eagles with 11 service aces. Ada Rivera added nine aces in the win. Rosewood improved to 10-1 on the season.
* Soccer: Brogden 11, Greenwood 0 -- Brogden got five goals from Cezar Benitez in an 11-0 victory over Greenwood on Monday. Adrian Flores, Dexter Ponce, Axil Ruiz, Eric Valzquez, Josh Wilder and Angel Zuniga also scored for the Rams. Brogden (9-0 overall) travels to Spring Creek on Thursday.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Mount Olive 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, 15-25, 25-21 -- Lexie Reyes served 12 aces for the Gators. Naomi Valdovinos recorded seven aces and Veronica Martinez added three aces. Daisy Martinez, Ivet Carreno and Alanna Price posted two aces apiece. Spring Creek (7-5 overall) plays host to Brogden on Thursday.
