* Wayne Country Day registered a season-high goal output in its 9-1 victory over future Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference member Freedom Christian on Friday afternoon.
Freedom is not eligible for the CPIC regular-season title.
Senior striker Hil Tanner, the area's leading scorer, logged a hat trick (three goals) in the lopsided affair. Cody Neal and Jack Langston provided two goals apiece. Billy Zheng and Trent Proimos each added one goal.
Neal distributed four assists, while Proimos had one.
The Chargers (6-4-3 overall, 3-3-0 CPIC) entertain Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Tuesday afternoon. The Patriots have won the last four meetings since their semifinal-round clash in the 2009 N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs.
