JACKSONVILLE -- Taylor McGill earned the match-clinching pin at 215 pounds and Rosewood escaped Northside, 39-37, in a non-conference wrestling match Tuesday evening.
Trailing 34-21, the Eagles went to work down the stretch.
Josh Pipkin (160 pounds) secured a second-period fall over Northside's Timothy Harms and teammate Adam McKane followed with a second-period pin over Christian Jones at 171. That closed the gap to 34-33 before Northside's Trey Eason slipped past Jamie Wooten, 10-4.
McGill controlled the tempo against 215-pounder Chase Brown and held a 6-3 advantage after two periods. The junior kept his poise and escaped Brown's grasp to collect another point. McGill took Brown to the mat and sealed the outcome with a pin at the 5-minute, 2-second mark.
"Tyler wrestled a tough match, was under control and very patient," said Edmundson.
The Eagles (5-1 overall) also received individual wins from heavyweight Jacob Guthrie, Chris Lane (112), Nick Quillen (119) and Tyler Dean (145).
Rosewood started the night with a 60-22 romp over tri-meet host Southwest Onslow, which failed to field a full squad.
McGill, Guthrie, Jacob Holliday (103), Lane, Quillen, Dean, Bradley Mills, Pipkin, McKane and Wooten each provided an individual win.
"It's always exciting to wrestle against people we don't usually see," said Eagles head coach Bill Edmundson. "The Jacksonville teams really helped us expose some of the things we need to work on in the practice room, and that will do nothing but help us in the long run."
Rosewood plays host to the 15th annual Eagle Invitational, the county's longest-running individual tournament, on Saturday. First-round matches in 14 weight classes begin at 9:15 a.m.
