Girls' basketball
C.B. Aycock 43, Greene Central 38
* PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock overcame a slow start and dispatched Greene Central 43-38 on Thursday night. The Golden Falcons completed a regular-season sweep of the Rams.
Six early points from Dominique Graham propelled the visitors to a 12-8 advantage after one quarter. C.B. Aycock erased the deficit in the second period with stingy defense and a clear rebounding advantage.
The Golden Falcons led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter before the Rams stormed back into contention only to fall short.
Imari Howell paced C.B. Aycock with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ivy Hartzell also finished with a double-double -- 13 points and 11 boards.
Graham Led the Rams (1-3 overall) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
C.B. Aycock (2-1) travels to county rival Goldsboro today. Greene Central plays host to Ayden-Grifton on Dec. 8.
Princeton 37, Midway 34
* SPIVEY'S CORNER -- Nicole Melvin led Princeton with 14 points in a non-conference road win over Midway.
Savanna Massengill provided 10 points and eight rebounds. Megan Gerrell had eight points.
The Bulldogs (1-3 overall) entertain North Johnston tonight.
JV sports
* Boys' basketball: Charles B. Aycock 64, Greene Central 39 -- Aycock's Michael Williams scored 20 points. Shakel Powell contributed 13 points and Jarius Whitlock finished with 11. The Golden Falcons (2-0) travel to Goldsboro today.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 27, Grantham 22 -- Ashley Darden scored 12 points for Norwayne. Myleah Jones supplied six points and Quanika Lofton added four. Zaria Atkins paced Grantham with nine points. Norwayne (4-0 overall) visits Rosewood on Monday.
