The matchups worked.
Rosewood tweaked its lineup in the lower weights and pulled off a 48-30, non-conference conquest over Wilson Hunt on the wrestling mat Wednesday evening.
Zach Behrend and Scott Pate each bumped up a weight class to aid the Eagles' cause. Behrend pinned the Warriors' Malox Hodges with five-tenths of a second left on the clock, while Pate logged a second-period fall.
"It makes me feel good as a coach when these young men are willing to wrestle up to good competition," said Rosewood coach Bill Edmundson. "They maintain their weight to wrestle at their 'weight class' and then volunteer to strategically wrestle up to the better competition.
"It's hard to ask too much more of athlete than that, and these guys do it without question."
Rosewood (23-7 overall) also received individual victories from Nick Quillen, Tyler Dean, Josh Pipkin, Jacob Roberts, Jamie Wooten and Taylor McGill.
