ASHEVILLE -- Wayne Country Day won one of three games at the Asheville Christian Holiday Classic over the weekend.
The Chargers rallied past Victory Christian on Friday for a 61-52 win. All-tournament selection Tim Hobbs paced the team with 22 points. Reco McCarter added 13 markers and Josh Gregory chipped-in 11 points.
On Saturday morning the Chargers were not as fortunate as they fell 76-73 to Northside. After getting off to a slow start, Wayne Country Day responded offensively and cut a 20-point deficit to three in the final minutes but the late push came up short.
Tyson Pearson led the Chargers with 17 points. Gregory tallied 16 points and Hobbs finished with 15.
In the nightcap, Wayne Country Day lost 56-54 to Asheville Christian.
McCarter sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, but the Chargers could not sustain the momentum. The Virginia Commonwealth signee finished with 16 points while Hobbs added 15.
Wayne Country Day entertains a traveling team from Australia on Wednesday.
