COKER, S.C. -- Tia Rose notched the game-winning goal in second-half action as Mount Olive defeated Coker (S.C.) College 3-2 in a women's college soccer match Thursday evening.
It was the Conference Carolinas opener for both teams.
The Cobras (0-5-0, 0-1-0 CC) grabbed a one-goal advantage in the seventh minute. The Trojans' Lindsey Stanley tallied the equalizer off Mary Knepp's first-ever collegiate assist in the 25th minute.
Nia Celata put Mount Olive ahead 2-1 in the 33rd minute and Rose added her insurance goal in the 56th minute. Coker climbed within 3-2 in the 73rd minute.
Lyndsey McIntyre recorded two saves for the Trojans.
Mount Olive (3-3-1, 1-0-0) entertains Belmont Abbey on Saturday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Amon Field.
