PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock captured a share of the regular-season, Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference men's soccer title with a 7-1 win over county rival Southern Wayne on Wednesday.

Alex Rodriguez celebrated senior night with a hat trick (three goals). Kyle LaFlamme scored twice, while teammates C.P. Cranford and Tucker Pearson each added one goal.

Aycock outshot Southern Wayne 26-6 on the night.

Along with Rodriguez and Cranford, it was also the last regular-season home contest for Gavin Forrest, Ryan Martin, Brandon Nelson, Ethan Holley and Alex Dugan.

The No. 10-ranked Golden Falcons (17-1 overall) tied with Wilson Hunt for regular-season supremacy, but won the coin flip for the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Aycock entertains either Southern Wayne or Wilson Beddingfield on Monday.

Warriors cruise

Eastern Wayne completed its Eastern Carolina 3-A conference schedule with a 6-1 win over Kinston at Little Big Horn on Wednesday.

Six different Warriors netted goals in the victory.

Spencer Wise, Leslie Cox, Frankie Russo, Eric Suncin, Ryan Allison and Alex Henson each scored in their regular season finale on home turf.

Eastern Wayne (6-8, overall, 5-5 ECC) entertains Kinston in its opening-round, ECC tournament game Saturday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Eagles win

Cody Harris and Zach Barron each netted two goals as Rosewood ousted Ayden-Grifton 5-1 in Carolina 1-A Conference action at Branch Pope field.

Connor Adams rounded out the Eagles' scoring.

Brett Robinson recorded two assists.

Rosewood (2-9-3 overall, 2-2 CC) continues league play Monday at North Johnston.

Volleyball

Hawks win EPC

LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir capped its undefeated volleyball campaign with an 18-25, 28-26, 25-15, 25-12 victory over Farmville Central in the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference tournament championship on Wednesday.

Marissa Lanier led the Hawks' offense with 19 kills. Kristen Davenport added ten kills and Jordan Hudson contributed 43 assists.

Heidi Milliken proved to be North Lenoir's ace from the service line as she tallied 27 points and four aces.

The Hawks (23-0 overall) return to action at home Saturday in the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Rosewood falls

KENLY -- Rosewood dropped a 3-0 decision to North Johnston in the championship match of the Carolina 1-A Conference tournament on Wednesday.

The Panthers prevailed 25-14, 25-15, 26-24.

Taylor Johnson led the Eagle' attack with seven kills and two blocks. Caroline Tart added four kills, while Paige Babb dished out 16 assists.

Rosewood will travel to Lakewood for the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs on Saturday.

Cross country

EPC finishes season

SNOW HILL -- Tarboro captured the annual Eastern Plains 2-A Conference girls' cross country championship with a 31-point effort on Wednesday afternoon.

Greene Central raced home second with 46 points.

Mackenzie Moore claimed fifth place overall for the Rams with a time of 25 minutes, 17 seconds. Sharonda Ormond took the 10th spot in 26:28.

On the boys' side, North Pitt captured team honors.

Greene Central, led by Will Crandell's 12th-place finish of 20:39, came home fourth.

Middle schools

* Soccer: Eastern Wayne 6, Rosewood 1 -- Rene Aquilar and Mitchell Kasper each scored twice as Eastern Wayne led from start to finish. Preston Daly and Troy Walsh rounded out the scoring for the Warriors. Rosewood's lone goal came from Logan Bill on an assist by Jacob Holliday. Eastern Wayne improved to 6-4 overall.
