KENLY -- North Duplin couldn't hang on after taking the opening game as North Johnston prevailed 24-26, 25-23, 25-16, 25-16 on Tuesday afternoon.
Sam Cates tallied seven assists, six kills and an ace and teammate Felicia Lynch had five assists, one kill, one dig and an ace.
"We started out strong winning the first game, but crucial mistakes in the second game took the momentum away from us," said Rebels head coach Heather Best. "I think we had a hard time regrouping. We've got to work on being more consistent with our entire match and continue to improve and we'll be OK."
North Duplin (2-3 overall, 0-1 Carolina) visits Princeton on Thursday.
