Dutch center fielder Greg Halman's diving catch squelched a ninth-inning rally and propelled West Tenn to a 2-1 victory over Carolina on Wednesday evening.
The Mudcats trailed 2-1 with two outs and had a runner on third when Halman made his game-saving play in the left center-field gap. Carolina kept its seven-game lead in the Southern Division, but still needs 12 wins to wrap up the second-half title.
The series continues today.
