Carolina spotted Jacksonville a three-run lead, but rallied for a 6-3 decision at Five County Stadium on Tuesday evening.
It was the Mudcats' fifth straight win.
Bryan Petersen, who provided a game-tying single in the first inning, scored the go-ahead run in the third on a throwing error by the Suns. Dante Brinkley swatted his first homer in the fourth to extend Carolina's lead to 5-3.
The series continues today.
