LaGRANGE -- Six players pounded out two hits apiece as Wayne County South hammered North Lenoir 15-6 in a Junior Legion baseball contest Tuesday evening.
Kenan Winn (2-for-3) Winn homered and drove in two runs for Wayne County, which improved to 5-1 this season. Cody Davis contributed one RBI, while Scott Holloman had five official plate appearances on the night.
Matt Neal doubled in a 2-for-4 showing, while Donte Boseman plated two runs in a 2-for-4 performance. Jordan Hood added two hits in three at-bats.
Every starter provided at least one hit in the win.
Cody Richards (three RBI), Jordan Williams, Duane Gurganus (RBI), Kevin Wise (RBI), Zach Grantham and Will Beasley (RBI) also supplied offense for coach Trae McKee's squad.
Neal claimed the mound win, striking out three and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five innings of work. Corey Howell, Will Broadwell and Raymond Velasquez also saw mound time.
Wayne County South entertains Kinston on Thursday. First pitch is 7 p.m. on the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex in Dudley.
North gets road win
DEEP RUN -- Jordan Quinn emerged the winning pitcher as Wayne County North defeated Junior Legion foe South Lenoir 5-1 on Tuesday evening.
Jose Ponce (double), John Taylor and Nick McGee cranked out two hits apiece for Wayne County North, which evened its record at 4-4.

Wooten commits to ECU
Eastern Wayne infielder John Wooten has verbally committed to play baseball at East Carolina University.
Wooten helped Eastern Wayne claim its first regular-season conference baseball championship since 1989 and advance to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A playoffs.
Golf
Lane Tree LGA
Betty Jean Gurley claimed game-of-the-week and low net accolades during weekly play at Lane Tree Golf Club.
Gurley and Lou Ellen Flowers shared low putts.
Walnut Creek LGA
Charlotte Campbell seized play-of-the-day during weekly tournament action at Walnut Creek Country Club.
Faye Franklin(low gross), Linda Cannon (low net) and Dot Julian (low putts) also fared well.
In the Walnut Creek Ladies Invitational, Novella Zambelli took second gross in first flight play. Also turning in good rounds were Nancy Satterfield (second net, fourth flight), Julian (second gross, fifth flight) and Barb McGregor (second net, fifth flight).
Maureen Prys had low putts, while Franklin was closest to the pin on No. 15.
