C.B. Aycock spring athletes honored

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock recognized its spring sports athletes with a season-ending awards ceremony.
Senior softball standout Emily Jordan and senior wrestler Jarrett Covar earned the female and male athlete of the year awards, respectively.
Ashley Toler and Jackson Wooten picked up the female and male sportsmanship awards, respectively.
The Golden Falcons' softball team and men's tennis team each picked up Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season championships.
Athletes honored were:
* Varsity baseball: Six players shared the Falcon Baseball Award -- Jordan Carr, Bryant Hill, Jesse Randolph, Stephen Strouse, Jackson Wooten and Zach Wright.
* Women's track: Briana Reid (most improved), Samantha Ballard (hustle award) and Chantel Gaines (most valuable player).
* Men's track: Edmond Miller (most improved), Cameron George (most outstanding performer), Deven Sanders (most outstanding sprinter) and Khendre Reid (best all-around).
* Men's varsity tennis: Blake Cooper (coach's award), Ben Nichols (most improved), Dylan Quinn (impact player) and Blake Vail (MVP).
* Men's golf: Chase Parnell (most improved), Steven Herring (coach's award) and Austin Forrest (MVP).
* Varsity women's soccer: Caitlin Richards (coach's award), Taylor DeMartini (offensive MVP), Zara Shaw (defensive MVP) and Abby Caplinger (team MVP).
* Varsity softball: Leigh Smith (coach's award), Anna Sullivan (defensive player of the year), Torie Benton (offensive POY) and Emily Jordan (MVP).
* JV baseball: Three players shared the coach's award -- Derek Limbaugh, Nicholas McGee and Jordan Quinn.
* JV women's soccer: Two players shared MVP honors -- Lauren Langston and Elivia Rodriguez.
* JV softball: Kathleen Doughty (most improved) and Jessica Hare (coach's award).
