Daniel Barone pitched six shutout innings and Chris Coghlan provided three RBI as Carolina hammered Tennessee 8-1 on Wednesday evening.
Barone, who allowed a first-inning, lead-off single, retired 16 consecutive batters until the sixth inning. Andy Jenkins' sacrifice fly and Manuel Mayorson's RBI double gave Barone a three-run cushion during that stretch.
It was the Mudcats' first win in the series.
