Wayne Christian pounded out 14 hits and Traci Davis tossed a no-hitter as the top-ranked Eagles dominated visiting fourth-ranked Faith of Rocky Mount 15-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

Davis finished with 12 strikeouts.

Davis and Brittany Sullivan each collected three hits and Carly Hightower and Courtney Barrow both went 2-for-4.

Wayne Christian (4-0 overall) welcomes Village Christian on Thursday.

Rebels tame Leopards

CALYPSO -- North Duplin used an eight-run, sixth-inning rally to down Lakewood 13-5 on Tuesday.

Kristen Jones was 4-5 with three RBI and a solo homer in the sixth. Felicia Lynch ended the day 2-for-3, Heather Hudson went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a solo homer in the sixth. Elizabeth Lane and Brittany Coley each added hits.

Lynch got the start on the mound and allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks in five innings. Jessica Pridgen earned the win tossing two innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.

North Duplin (3-2 overall) travels to Hobbton on Thursday.

Rams buck Fike

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central needed just 4 1/2 innings to dispose of Wilson Fike 10-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams (5-3 overall) scored a pair of runs in the first and got four more in both the second and fourth innings. Liz Webb finished 3-for-3 with four RBI and Megan Lovett went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Webb pitched a complete game allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four.

Greene Central will face Currituck at 11 a.m. on Saturday in an Easter tournament in Winterville.

CBA tops Hunt

WILSON -- Emily Jordan pitched seven scoreless innings and Charles B. Aycock defeated Wilson Hunt 3-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play on Tuesday.

The Golden Falcons did all their scoring in the sixth inning. Brittany Ford was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Cara Frederick went 1-for-4 and an RBI and a run scored. Torie Benton, Leigh Smith, Brooke Edgerton and Autumn Pittman all added hits for Aycock.

Jordan allowed five hits, one walk and struck out seven.

The Golden Falcons (7-0 overall, 2-0 ECC) entertain rival Eastern Wayne on Thursday.

Saints march to win

KINSTON -- Southern Wayne roughed up Kinston 11-1 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action on Tuesday.

Lindsey Pearsall had three hits for the Saints. Brianna Lofton added a triple and a home run. Kayla Gracyk, Meredith Davis and Christina Williams each added two hits.

Lauren Darden picked up the win striking out seven and walking one.

Southern Wayne (7-1 overall, 2-0 ECC) faces Wilson Hunt on April 3.

Baseball

Saints halt Vikings

KINSTON -- Southern Wayne fell behind 2-0 early, but rallied to top Kinston 4-2 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play on Tuesday.

The Saints scored runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and again in the seventh. Southern Wayne (6-2 overall, 2-1 ECC) also benefited from five Vikings errors.

Jordan Hood, Cody Davis, Ricky Oddon, Tyler Edwards, Ryan Messimer and Michael Douglas has all singles for the Saints.

Southern Wayne plays host to Wilson Hunt on Thursday.

Errors cost Eagles

ROCKY MOUNT -- Fourth-ranked Wayne Christian was plagued by three sixth-inning errors that led to four runs in a 10-5 loss at fifth-ranked Faith of Rocky Mount on Tuesday.

Josh Burdette, Jeremy Jefferson and Adam Brannan each had hits for the Eagles. Brannan took the loss on the mound.

Wayne Christian (2-1) hosts Village Christian on Thursday.

Rosewood ends slump

NEWTON GROVE -- Rosewood snapped a five-game losing streak with a 14-4 thumping of Hobbton on Tuesday.

The Eagles (2-5 overall) did most of their damage with five runs in the third and seven more in the fifth.

Robert Franks was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBI. Steven Bostic went 3-for-3 with two RBI, Will Beasley ended the day 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and Zach Grantham went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Beasley got the win on the mound allowing four runs (all earned) on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts in five innings of work.

The Eagles entertain Wayne Country Day on Thursday.

Rams stop Gators

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central held on to earn a 6-5 non-conference win over visiting Spring Creek on Tuesday.

Chris Leggett and Jasper Jones both had two hits and an RBI for the Rams. Alex Casey went 2-for-2 for the Gators and Kevin Prunest was 2-for-3. Scott Murphy earned the win on the mound for Greene Central.

The Rams (5-2 overall) host South Central today. Spring Creek (3-6) travels to North Lenoir on Thursday.

ND prevails in eighth

CALYPSO -- Trea Beavers was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out in the home half of the eighth inning as North Duplin defeated Lakewood 7-6 on Tuesday.

The Rebels scored seven runs on just two hits thanks to 12 Lakewood walks and two Leopard errors.

Billy Mello and Blake King collected North Duplin's only hits. Doug Lloyd pitched a scoreless eighth for the win.

The Rebels (2-3 overall) visit Hobbton on Thursday.

Soccer

Chargers, Eagles tie

Rosewood and Wayne Country Day played to a scoreless draw at Branch Pope Field on Tuesday evening.

The Chargers tallied 25 shots to Rosewood's two, but Wayne Country Day was unable to maintain its offensive pressure in the second half.

The Chargers (3-0-1 overall) were playing in honor of teammate Catherine Ford's grandfather who had passed away at age 86 just two nights earlier.

Wayne Country Day visits Wilson Christian on March 28.

Track

Rosewood victorious

DUNN -- Rosewood's women's track team swept a tri-meet with Midway and Clinton on Tuesday.

Individual winners for the Eagles were Melissa Hall (shot put), India McGowan (high jump) Brittney Cabala (triple jump), Ashley Faulcon (discus), Olivia Neal (400 meters) and Jennifer Page (800 meters).

The Eagles were also victorious in the 3,200- and 1,600-meter relays.

Rosewood visits Spring Creek on Thursday for a Carolina 1-A Conference meet.

Tennis

Warriors roll

DUDLEY -- Eastern Wayne eased past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference rival Southern Wayne 9-0 on Tuesday.

Singles winners for the Warriors were Drew Jackson, David Benton, Chris Knobling, Eric Barnes, Thomas Jackson and Charlie Umstead.

Eastern Wayne hosts Wilson Hunt on Thursday, while Southern Wayne visits North Lenoir today.

Golf

Walnut Creek LGA

Nancy Satterfield was the play-of-the-day winner for weekly tournament play at Walnut Creek Country Club. Jewel Ivey (low gross), Josie Ottaviani (low net) and Novella Zambelli (low putts) also fared well.

In Eastern Ladies League play at Lane Tree, Kathy Woodard claimed low putts in the championship flight. Zambelli won first gross in first flight play, while Linda Cannon captured first net in the same group.

Satterfield ended up with second net in the second flight, with Betty Holloway seizing second gross. Pete Reaves wound up with first net in third-flight competition.

JV sports

* Wayne Christian baseball 18, Myrtle Grove Christian 3 -- Chase Darden tallied three hits for the Eagles and Caleb Nelson, Jackson Hayes and Gregory Johnson each had two hits. The Eagles (1-1) visit Bethel Christian on Apr. 1.

* Greene Central baseball 11, Spring Creek 3 -- Jeffrey Howard went 2-for-2 for the Rams and Will Janning was 1-for-3 for the Gators. Greene Central faces South Central today.

* Eastern Wayne soccer 2, C.B. Aycock 1 -- Joanna Talton scored two goals to lead the Warriors to a comeback win. Tiffany Troy recorded four saves for Eastern Wayne. The Warriors (2-0-2) visit the Golden Falcons on Thursday.

* Eastern Wayne tennis 7, River Birch 2 -- Timothy Parker, Michael Ames, Sanjeev Srikantha, Joe Dicesare and Connor Childers earned singles wins for the Warriors.
