Elmore takes two events

Wayne Country Day's Ellen Elmore emerged victorious in two individual victories during Wednesday's season-ending, non-conference meet contested at the B.G. Darden Natatorium.
Elmore touched the wall first in the 200 free (2 minutes, 37 seconds) and 100 free (1:09.79). She also swam the third leg on the 200 medley relay, which finished third overall. Joining her were Georgia Tanner, Rebecca Thompson and Hannah Petus. The same foursome ended up third in the 200 free relay.
Thompson claimed second in the 100 free, third in the 100 breaststroke and eighth in the 50 free. Pettus took seventh in the 50 free.
On the boys' side, the Chargers' Will Nolan seized runner-up honors in the 50 free (25.4) and 100 free (57.62). Cory Roberts placed fourth in the 50 free, while Thomas Elmore grabbed fifth in the 100 free.
The foursome of Roberts, Elmore, Nolan and Thomas Yarboro posted a second-place time (2:15.36) in the 200 medley relay. Roberts, Elmore, Nolan and E.J. York finished second in the 200 free relay at 1:59.41.
All 10 Wayne Country Day swimmers have qualified as either individuals or on relay teams for the Classes 1-A/2-A N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships. The meet is scheduled for Feb. 18th at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
