LaGRANGE -- Robbie Keys found the back of the net twice and contributed three assists as Eastern Wayne whipped North Lenoir 6-2 on Monday.

Eric Suncin, Werner Wooten, Geordi Brown and Ryan Klinkicht also got in on the scoring for the Warriors, each recording one goal. Overall, the Warriors outshot the Hawks 17-5 as they improved their record to 2-3 overall. Eastern Wayne will next host Wilson Fike on Thursday.

C.C. Croom scored North Lenoir's two goals as the Hawks fell to 3-5-1 overall and next travel to Kinston on Wednesday.

Conquerors defeated

Trinity Christian broke open a 1-0 game in the final 10 minutes to defeat Faith Christian 3-0 on Monday afternoon.

The evenly played match was a one-goal game until Trinity score twice in a a one minute span to send the Conquerors to their first loss of the season.

Faith Christian falls to 2-1 overall and will next host Cornerston on Friday.

Jags upend Eagles

Sophomore Alberto Coria provided a hat trick (three goals) and assisted on another goal as Farmville Central rolled past Rosewood 6-1 at Branch Pope Field.

Sophomore Archer Bane contributed two goals and one assist. Junior David Orozco collected one goal.

Zach Behrend notched Rosewood's lone goal.

Farmville Central improved to 2-1-1 overall.

Rams down Demons

SNOW HILL -- The Greene Central women's tennis team triumphed at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, and shocked state-ranked Wilson Fike 5-4 on Monday afternoon.

The second-seeded tandem of Elizabeth McLawhorn-Lauren Carraway edged the Demons' Mallory Short-Meredith Pruden 8-5. The No. 3 duo of Abby Sugg-Samantha Taylor doubled up Kate Woodard-Katelyn Suggs 8-4.

"Lauren was a key player for us today again in singles and doubles," said Greene Central head coach Donald Clark. "She is fast becoming a leader on this team despite being our youngest player. She goes out and does what she is asked every for the good of the team."

Fike, ranked No. 5 in the N.C. High School Tennis Coaches Association Class 3-A poll, suffered its first regular-season defeat in the last two years. The Golden Demons exited 9-1 overall.

The Rams' Puja Patel rose to 4-0 in singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Mary Catherine Prince. Teammates Sugg and Carraway also posted straight-set victories to create a 3-3 deadlock in singles.

"Puja turned in a fantastic performance today against one of the state's premier 3-A players," said Clark. "She dominated the first set with her groundstrokes, but I was more pleased with her comeback in the second set; particularly the changes she made in her game late in the second set."

Greene Central (8-2) entertains unbeaten Rocky Mount, ranked No. 8 in the NCHSTCA 3-A poll, on Wednesday.

Bailey leads Eagles

Missy Bailey contributed to wins in singles and doubles play to help Rosewood to a 6-3 win over Carolina/Super Six 1-A member Wallace-Rose Hill on Monday afternoon.

Bailey defeated Lindsay Powell 6-2, 4-6 (10-6) and teamed up with doubles' partner Eica Nichols to defeat Powell-Heather Casteen 8-6.

Nichols, Jullian Casey and Ashli Allen also had victories in singles' action for Rosewood.

The Eagles (2-1 C/SS) visit North Duplin today.

Faith Christian falls

Despite a strong, overall game from Renee Provencal, Faith Christian lost its first match of the season 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 13-25, 14-16 to Trinity on Monday afternoon.

Provencal led the Conquerors with 11 assists while also adding five kills, four aces and two digs. Katelyn Ford also had a solid afternoon, tallying a team-high seven kills with seven aces while Brook Anderson added four digs.

Faith Christian (3-1 overall) travels to Cornerstone today.
