Eastern Wayne evened its recorded at 1-1 on the season with a 4-0 defeat of North Lenoir on Thursday afternoon.
Robbie Keys scored twice off penalty kicks to lead Eastern Wayne. Frank Russo and Chris Knobling added the other goals for the Warriors who outshot the Hawks 14-6.
Eastern Wayne will play host to White Oak on Aug. 27.
Volleyball
Hawks play strong
DUDLEY -- North Lenoir defeated Southern Wayne 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 on Thursday evening.
Kayla Sutton had a big game for the Hawks with 13 kills and three blocks. Marissa Lanier added seven kills and Conner Jordan had four for North Lenoir.
The Hawks improve to 2-0 overall and host Kinston on Aug. 28.
Chargers escape
Wayne Country Day needed five games before eventually defeating Parrott Academy 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 15-6 on Thursday afternoon.
Jessica Lewis had 13 kills and two blocks and two digs to lead the Chargers. Shelly Sullivan added 15 assists and seven digs for WCDS.
Erin Taylor had a strong performance with her serves as she recorded four aces.
Wayne Country Day (2-0 overall) travels to Parrott next week.

Eagles get road win
FAYETTEVILLE -- Wayne Christian opened its 2007 season with a 5-0 shutout of Fayetteville Christian on Thursday afternoon.
Gregory Alexander had a big day for the Eagles with a hat trick, including the game's first goal nine minutes into the game.
Chris Easom added two goals for Wayne Christian while Bryson tart had an assist. Chase King recorded the clean sheet for the Eagles.
"We moved the ball very well," said Wayne Christian coach Daryl Anderson. "Gregory Alexander was strong offensively and our defense was outstanding."
The Eagles will face Cape Fear Christian Academy for their first conference match on Aug. 30.

DUDLEY -- North Lenoir took both games from Southern Wayne, winning 25-13 and 25-21 on Thursday afternoon.
Chelsea Edmundson had two kills for the Hawks.
North Lenoir is now 2-0 overall and next hosts Kinston on Aug. 28.

Rams edge Aycock
SNOW HILL -- A late doubles win by the tandem of Caroline Byrd and Dena Turnage propelled Greene Central to a 5-4 victory over Charles B. Aycock on Thursday afternoon.
Singles winners for Greene Central were Jessica Gray, Abby Dail and Byrd.
For the Golden Falcons, Hollie Baker, Nicole Kessler and Harlie Howard all won their singles matches.
Aycock will host Greenfield on Aug. 28.

Golden Falcons fall
PIKEVILLE -- Clayton got three big plays to top Charles B. Aycock 22-0 on Thursday night.
Clayton scored off an interception return, had a 65-yard touchdown run and a 30-yard touchdown run.
C.B. Aycock (0-1) entertains Greene Central next Thursday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
