Warriors' Taylor, Frazer combine for four goals, four assists

Seniors Natalie Taylor and Sam Frazer notched two goals apiece as Eastern Wayne blitzed Wilson Beddingfield 5-0 in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play.

Frazer added three assists and Taylor provided one for the Warriors, who improved to 8-7 overall and 6-2 against ECC opposition. They continue play Tuesday afternoon at county rival Charles B. Aycock.

Kasie Edwards tallied the game-winning goal in the 15th minute off Frazer's assist.

edges C.B. Aycock

WILSON -- Wilson Hunt claimed the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season title outright with a 3-1 decision over C.B. Aycock.

Amanda Schlaeppi scored the Golden Falcons' lone goal off Lizzie Sodoma's assist.

C.B. Aycock (8-8-1 overall) fell to 5-3 in the ECC.

WILSON -- Garrett Davis supplied six strong innings on the mound and Jay Rose slugged a solo home run in C.B. Aycock's 6-2 victory at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent Wilson Hunt.

The Golden Falcons (17-3 overall, 7-1 ECC) maintained a one-game lead over county foe Eastern Wayne in the regular-season title race. The two teams meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Pikeville.

Davis scattered four hits and struck out 13 Warrior batters. Brandon Price recorded the save with one inning of two-strikeout relief.

Rose concluded the day 2-for-3. Bradley Taylor contributed one hit and two RBI. Thomas Pilkington batted 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Softball

Errors prove fatal

for Wayne Christian

Fayetteville Christian parlayed nine errors into eight unearned runs and dispatched Wayne Christian 13-3 in a non-conference softball game Saturday.

The Eagles, who left six runners stranded, endured their first defeat in nine outings this season.

Right-handed hurler Traci Davis suffered the mound loss, despite a six-strikeout effort. Kayla Kennedy tossed two innings of two-strike relief.

Wayne Christian (9-1 overall) entertains Princeton today.

Princeton rolls

past Spring Creek

PRINCETON -- Princeton pitchers Amber Wood and Maegan Myers combined for a no-hitter in the Bulldogs' 19-0 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek.

The duo combined for four strikeouts as Princeton (10-4 overall) remained perfect in six conference outings. Wood helped her cause with three hits and three RBI on offense.

Ashley Braswell (three RBI) and Haylee Wood (three RBI) cranked out three hits apiece. Tylan George and Brittany Baker each contributed two hits.
