Wayne Christian tallied nine runs in the final two innings and knocked off state-ranked Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 13-5 on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles, ranked No. 1 in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A poll, remained unbeaten in eight outings.

Brittany Sullivan, Kayla Kennedy and Carly Hightower each batted 2-for-4 in the come-from-behind win. Hope Wright added a triple and winning pitcher Traci Davis cranked out a double.

Davis, a right-hander, picked up her seventh win in the pitcher's circle. She fanned 13 Patriot batters, walked three and yielded five runs (three earned) on six hits.

Wayne Christian entertains Johnston Christian on Friday.

North Lenoir gets

past Princeton

LaGRANGE -- Sasha Holeman provided two goals and North Lenoir eased past Princeton 3-1 in a Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A contest Monday evening.

Jordan Hudson added the Hawks' other goal.

Keepers Meghan Johnson and Ra'Nelle Dudley combined for the win in goal.

Each team returns to action Wednesday. North Lenoir (8-6 overall, 5-0 C/EPC) entertains Rosewood, while Princeton (2-7, 2-4) plays host to county rival North Johnston.

knocks off Patriots

The Wayne Christian Eagles picked up a big win by knocking off Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 9-6 on Monday afternoon.

Doug Johnson threw four strong innings to pick up the win. He allowed two runs on three hits, walked one and struck out one. Adam Brannan pitched a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts en route to the save.

Michael Johnson had two hits to lead the Eagles while Doug Johnson and Jeremy Jefferson both added run-scoring doubles.

Wayne Christian (9-3 overall) welcomes Cape Fear Christian on Thursday afternoon.

CBA's Forrest shares medalist honors

KINSTON -- C.B. Aycock's Austin Forrest finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors during the fourth of six Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tournaments.

Forrest, along with Beddingfield's tandem of Mark Whitley and Matthew Ellis, posted an 18-hole round of 78 on the Falling Creek Country Club layout.

Hunt posted the lowest team score of 335, two strokes ahead of Aycock. The same margin separates the two teams in the overall ECC title chase.

Kyle Ham emerged Eastern Wayne's top scorer with an 81 in blustery conditions. The Warriors finished fourth overall and are fourth in the team standings.

Nick Evans paced Southern Wayne with an 85.

The next six-team ECCmeet is scheduled for April 23 at Lane Tree Golf Course. Play begins at 2 p.m.

Goldsboro's Brindley

takes Flight A

NEW BERN -- Goldsboro's Kevin Brindley emerged victorious with an 18-hole score of 71 during Flight A competition in the latest Amateur Golf Tour event contested at River Bend Country Club.

Fellow county golfers Sam Strawn and Kevin Harrington ended up fifth and sixth, respectively, in Flight A. Carl Evans finished 11th overall in Flight B, while Cory Watson tied with Farmville's Andrew Parks for first in Flight C.

The next Amateur Golf Tour event is scheduled for April 28 at Lane Tree Golf Course.
