MISENHEIMER -- Kat Cahoon delivered a two-out, two-strike, game-tying single and Jenny Jackson tallied the game-winning run on a wild pitch as Mount Olive seized a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over in-state foe Pfeiffer University.
The Falcons claimed the opener 3-0 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference twinbill.
Mount Olive (32-15 overall, 12-4 CVAC) fell behind 2-0 after the first inning of the nightcap and Pfeiffer added another run in the bottom of the fourth. Jackson drove in the Trojans' first run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and Cahoon scored on a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to pull the Trojans within 3-2.
Bailey Harrell led off the seventh with a single and Jackson followed with a double. After the next two Trojan batters were retired, Cahoon laced a two-strike pitch into center, scoring pinch-runner Kensie Cobb and advancing Jackson to third. Jackson then scored on a wild pitch.
Cahoon went 3-for-4, while Harrell was 2-for-3.
In the opener, an error on a squeeze play after a lead-off triple led to Pfeiffer's first run in the second inning and ended Jackson's streak of 28 consecutive scoreless innings against CVAC opponents.
The Falcons (23-22, 9-9) added a run in the fourth and scored another unearned run on a passed ball in the sixth.
Harrell was 3-for-3 in game one as the Trojans collected six hits, but stranded seven runners.
Jackson (13-5) went the distance in both games, suffering her first CVAC loss. Jackson, who has won nine of her last 11 decisions overall, is now 8-1 in CVAC games. She struck out seven in the opener and added three strikeouts in the nightcap.
Mount Olive welcomes in-state opponent Lees-McRae for a doubleheader on Thursday. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the Nancy Chapman Cassell diamond.
