SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek pitcher Ray Grady struck out two Wayne Christian batters in the seventh inning with the bases loaded to help the Gators hold on for a 9-7 victory on Monday evening.
Alex Casey picked up the win in relief for Spring Creek while Adam Brannan (4-1) took the loss by allowing five unearned runs in three innings.
Timothy Rogers had two hits and a double while Josh Gammon had a hit and three RBIs for the Gators.
Brannan helped his own cause for Wayne Christian by going 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs.
Spring Creek improves to 8-4 while Wayne Christian falls to 6-2.
Rosewood destroys
overmatched Union
CLINTON -- Rosewood scored four runs in the first inning and coasted to a 15-1 non-conference victory over Union on Monday.
Garrett Howell finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs while David Smeltzer had a hit a two RBIs for the Eagles. Chris Hare also finisehd 2-for-4 and scored three runs.
Josh Hamilton was victorious on the mound by pitching the complete game and allowing one unearned run on five hits, walked one and struck out eight.
Rosewood improves to 7-3 and plays today at Spring Creek.

seventh in a row
FAYETTEVILLE -- Trent Langston turned in another strong outing as he led Wayne Country Day to a 5-3 win over Fayetteville Academy on Monday afternoon.
Langston (2-0) allowed only one run on seven hits in five innings, walked four and struck out six.
Travis Davis and Cory Roberts both had two hits and an RBI for the Chargers while Cameron Ford finished 2-for-4.
WCDS (10-1) will go for eight in a row today when they host Greenville Christian.

Faith Christian
bats get hot
Faith Christian pounded out 20 hits as the Conquerors walloped Johnston Christian 17-6 on Monday afternoon.
Renée Provencal had four of those hits while Jenifer Christopher and Brittany Bell added three hits.
Christopher also took the win by striking out 11 in her start.
Faith Christian improves to 5-2 and will next take the field on April 9 against Wilmington Christian.

North Johnston
nips Rosewood
KENLY -- Rosewood evened its game against North Johnston with a goal seven minutes into the second half by Katie Seymour on a corner kick, but the Panthers would score again eight minutes later to defeat the Eagles 2-1 on Monday in Carolina Conference 1-A action.
Rosewood falls to 5-3 (2-1 CC) and will next travel to Tarboro.
North Lenoir remains
unbeaten in EPC
North Lenoir improved to 4-0 in Eastern Plains Conference play by defeating Tarboro 3-1 on Monday.
Lindsay Walton, Lindsay Fulton and Sasha Holeman scored one goal each for the Hawks. North Lenoir (7-6) will host Princeton on April 16.
Golf
Wayne Christian defeats SSS
Clark Rose and Matt Davis led Wayne Christian to a non-conference victory on Monday against Smithfield Selma at Walnut Creek CC, 151-162.
Following one of their highest scores of the season last week, the Eagles came out ready to play and posted one of their best scores. Rose finished with a 35 and Davis shot a 36 to lead the Eagles.
Wayne Christian will next take on Southern Wayne on Thursday.

Rosewood picks up
first conference win
The Rosewood Eagles defeated Ayden-Grifton 6 matches to 2 to record their first conference win of the season.
Top seeded Daniel Ellis led Rosewood by defeating A.J. Lewis 6-2, 6-0. Trevor Morris, J.P. Cummings and Drew Kriger also recorded straight set wins for the Eagles. In doubles play, the teams of Ellis/Morris and Cummings/Kriger recorded wins.
Rosewood improves to 3-4 (1-0 CC) and will host North Johnston Wednesday.
JV Baseball
Aycock shuts out
rival Eastern Wayne
Charles B. Aycock blanked Eastern Wayne 10-0 in six innings on Monday afternoon behind a solid effort from pitcher Eric DuBose.
DuBose threw six shut out innings while allowing six hits, walked none and struck out two.
Nicholas McGee and Tyler Ruffin both finished 2-for-4 for the Golden Falcons while Jordan Quinn finished 2-for-3.
Aycock improves to 6-3 (2-3) and will host Southern Wayne today.
Middle Schools
Norwayne baseball 24, Greenwood 1 -- Alan Walker, Tyler Farmer and Jimmy Joyner all tallied three hits while Brad Kennedy, Bryant Stafford, Phillip Kirby and Tyson Pierson had two for Norwayne. John Taylor picked up the win on the mound. Norwayne improves to 8-0 (3-0) with the win.
Eastern Wayne baseball 15, Brogden 1 -- Tyler Brown and Aaron Debus combined for 12 strikeouts as the duo no-hit Brogden. Wesley Capps had three hits and Jonathan Carter added two for Eastern Wayne who improved to 7-0 and will next face Norwayne n Thursday in a match-up of unbeaten teams.
