Serra named player of the week

MOUNT OLIVE -- Guillherme Serra, who picked up two wins in nationally 37th-ranked Mount Olive's 9-0 conference victory over Coker, has been named Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday. The award is the third for Serra, who was a two-time player of the week winner in 2005. Serra, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Coker at No. 1 singles and combined with Vitor Lage for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Serra improved to 4-2 in the conference in singles play and 5-1 in doubles play.
