MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive received one first-place vote and has been picked fifth in the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Preseason Men's Golf Poll, as voted on by the CVAC coaches. Chris Bitzenhofer and Mick Moberg have been selected among CVAC preseason "Players to Watch." Mount Olive was one of five teams to receive at least one first-place vote in the poll.

Bitzenhofer, a senior from Raleigh (Sanderson HS), finished second at last year's St. Andrews Spring Invitational and recorded a seventh-place finish at this year's St. Andrews Fall Invitational to help lead the Trojans to the team championship for the second year in a row. Bitzenhofer placed 18th among Atlantic Region golfers at the 2006 NCAA II Super Regional.

Moberg, a junior from Gavel, Sweden, was named to the 2006 GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) All-Atlantic Region Men's Golf Team. He also earned All-CVAC second team honors last season and was named to the All-Tournament Team after his fourth-place finish at the 2006 CVAC Tournament. During the summer, Moberg won the 2006 Swedish Junior National Championship, becoming the No. 1-ranked under-21 men's golfer in Sweden.

Mount Olive received 49 points in the poll, finishing four points behind fourth-place Coker, which also received a first-place vote. Belmont Abbey received six first-place votes and finished first in the poll with 75 points. Second-place Pfeiffer and third-place Barton each received one first-place vote.

Mount Olive opens its 2007 season Jan. 26-27 as the Trojans compete in the Don Scalf Invitational, hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan College.
