Brandon Johnson picked up his 100th career victory and Tyler Wicks posted a 1-1 record after a two-month absence during Eastern Wayne's non-conference wrestling tri-match Friday evening.
The Warriors (15-4 overall) hammered short-handed Triton 76-6 and turned back J.H. Rose 36-34.
Johnson, a senior 215-pounder, reached the milestone with a third-period fall against J.H. Rose's Anthony Williams. Wicks pinned Triton's Chris Warn with four seconds left in the first period, and but lost to J.H. Rose.
Wicks' loss allowed the Rampants, of the Class 3-A Coastal 8 Conference, to forge a 27-27 in the overall match score. Johnson responded with his pin and Foy Coley followed with a 7-2 decision over the Rampants' Nick Davis.
J.H. Rose (23-7 overall) prevailed claimed the final two individual bouts, including an overtime decision at 112 pounds. The Rampants owned a 7-6 edge in contested matches, but yielded a forfeit to the Warriors' Detori Mitchell at 140 pounds.
Overall, Eastern Wayne collected 11 falls, three decisions and one major decision in 22 contested matches combined. The Warriors drew six forfeits, including five against Triton.
Chris Tesar, A.J. Washington, Detori Mitchell, Brian Lincoln and Foy Coley picked up two individual victories apiece. Wicks, Johnson, Jordan Harris, Grant Nix, Zack Hahn, Marcus Lewis, Brandon Darby, Drew Tesar, James Knight and Jonathan LaGrone each recorded one win.
