Moore, Robich spearhead MOC road victory

RALEIGH -- Freshman Helen Moore matched her career high with 20 points and Britney Robich pumped in a career-best 19 points in Mount Olive College's come-from-behind, 68-60 victory over St. Augustine's College on Saturday afternoon.
Robich, a sophomore from Rockingham hit five 3-pointers and tallied 16 second-half points for the Trojans. Mount Olive (4-3) remained unbeaten in three December contests and seized its first road win of the season.
St. Augustine's, of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, cruised to a 14-2 lead early in the opening half. Mount Olive failed to convert its first nine possessions and misfired on six shots from the floor.
Robich and Tomeka Prichard each drained a three-pointer to trim St. Aug's lead to 14-8. Prichard has connected on at least one three-pointer in 23 of her last 24 outings.
Moore capped a 12-0 run with six straight points and the Trojans tied the game at 14-14 with just under 10 minutes to go before halftime. St. Augustine's responded with a 14-5 run and grabbed a 36-25 advantage at intermission.
Crystal Taylor's layup gave St. Augustine's a 37-26 lead to start the second half. Robich answered with three consecutive three-pointers that ignited a game-changing 21-2 run. Mount Olive led 53-43 with just under nine minutes to go in regulation.
St. Augustine's (1-6) pulled within 57-54, but Robich buried another three-point to extend the Trojans' lead to six. Robich, Moore and point guard Keona Corley combined to hit 6 of 9 free throws in the final 42 seconds to preserve Mount Olive's third straight victory.
Robich pulled down a career-high six rebounds. Moore matched her career high for rebounds (seven), while Corley delivered game highs of eight assists and six steals. Corley is averaging 8.3 assists and 7.0 steals during the Trojans' win streak.
Sierra Medeiros contributed six points, three rebounds and three blocked shots. Prichard, Corley, Alisa Jones and Tilah Worthy added five apiece.
Taylor paced St. Augustine's with 23 points and eight rebounds -- both game highs. Taylor shot 10 of 14 from the field and played 25 minutes.
The teams meet again Dec. 29 at Kornegay Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Four days later, the Trojans play host to another CIAA team -- Shaw University.
