Four Trojans earn all-CVAC recognition

Mount Olive College defender Kirsten White was named Freshman of the Year and was one of four Trojans selected to the 2006 All-Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's soccer team.
White and forward Kate Painter were named to the first team, while midfielder April Jacobs was selected to the second team and defender Caitlyn Wright earned honorable mention.
White, a freshman from Woodstock, Ontario, began the season as the Trojans' sweeper before moving to midfield late in the season. White, who earned CVAC Player of the Week honors this season, finished with 13 goals this season and ranked in the top 10 in the CVAC in goals and assists.
Painter, a junior from London, Ontario, earns All-CVAC honors for the third straight year and being named to the second team in each of the last two years as a midfielder. Painter tallied 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points, and ranks in the top five in the CVAC in all three categories.
Jacobs, a junior from Fayetteville, is also a three-time All-CVAC selection, earning first team honors in her freshman and sophomore years. Jacobs leads the nation in total assists with 19 and ranks sixth in the nation in assists per game.
Wright, a junior from Titusville, Fla., recorded four goals and 11 assists this season and moved into the top 30 in the nation in assists per game. Wright, who earned CVAC Player of the Week honors in the final week of the regular season, helped lead the Trojans' defense to nine shutouts on the season.
Mount Olive posted an overall record of 15-7-0 and tied for third in the CVAC standings with a 9-2-0 mark. The Trojans set a school record for most conference wins and reached the semifinals of this year's CVAC Tournament. Mount Olive is ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA Southeast Region Poll.
