FARMVILLE -- Rosewood's Aubrey Reinhard provided 17 assists in the Eagles' five-set triumph at Farmville Central on Monday.

Rosewood (2-0) claimed the match, 25-16 25-23, 22-25, 21-25 and 15-13.

"We played a great match. Both teams played an outstanding match," Rosewood coach Jennifer Cochran said. "The girls worked hard on both sides."

Courtney Hill, Ashley Williams and Kasie Braswell combined for 26 kills at the net for the Eagles, while Roxie Phillips added 10 assists.

Rosewood returns to action at Goldsboro today at 4:30 p.m.

Warriors cruise

at New Bern

NEW BERN -- Eastern Wayne turned in a strong overall team effort in a 25-7, 25-7, 25-12 sweep at New Bern on Monday.

Anna Wilkins (nine kills, five blocks) and Brittani Billups (nine kills, five aces, two blocks) led the way up front. Jasmine McLamb and Carly Boyette added four kills and two kills, respectively, and combined for four aces.

"We pulled it together and played like a team," Eastern Wayne coach Bruce Burridge said. "It was impressive."

The Warriors (2-0) took the season series from the Bears and travel to Jacksonville White Oak today.

Bulldogs sweep

Goldsboro

Princeton's Brittany Davis dished out 23 assists in the Bulldogs' 25-14, 25-12, 25-12 win at Goldsboro High on Monday.

Stephanie Daughtry provided six kills, while Tiesha Williams provided four kills. Kortnie Yutzy added five aces for the Bulldogs (3-0), who host Midway today.

"We had great play from the girls off the bench. Our serving was a big part in our win today," Princeton coach Trudi Rast said. "Goldsboro worked hard and never gave up."

Rast credited Goldsboro's Carmille Early for solid play at the net.

The Cougars host Rosewood today.

Delgado scores

five for Falcons

LaGRANGE -- Charles B. Aycock's Jorge Delgado scored five goals, including four after halftime, and dished out two assists in the Golden Falcons' 6-0 win over North Lenoir on Monday.

Alex Rodriguez tallied Aycock's lone goal of the first half and provided two assists, while Gavin Forrest booted in the Falcons' final goal of the second half. Alex Roosen and Ethan Hawley contributed one assist each for Aycock (3-0), which posted its second shutout of the early season. The Falcons outshot the Hawks 25-7.

Aycock hosts North Johnston at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fike takes

three-team match

NEW BERN -- Wilson Fike's Amy Otteson shot a 77 to take medalist honors in a three-team match at Riverbend Country Club on Monday.

The Golden Demons finished first in the team scoring at 155, while the host Bears shot 165 and Eastern Wayne tallied a 191.

Freshman Jasmine Reeves paced the Warriors at 85 as Melissa Ricker (106), Ashley Smith (108) and Erica Freeman (119) also contributed to Eastern Wayne's total.

The Warriors return to action on Thursday at Goldsboro Country Club against Spring Creek and New Bern.

Greene Central

edges Aces

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central emerged with wins in five-of-six singles matches and emerged with a 5-4 victory over Edenton Holmes in non-conference action at the Snow Hill Tennis Complex on Monday. Brittany Horton, Sarah Beth Carraway, Elizabeth McLawhorn, Samantha Taylor and Abby Sugg each claimed a singles win for the Rams (1-3), who captured their first victory of the season.

"I was very proud of my girls in singles today," Greene Central coach Donald Clark said. "We did a great job against one of the top 2-A teams in North Carolina."

The Aces (2-2) bounced back to sweep all three doubles contests.

Greene Central returns to action today at home against Rocky Mount.

DURHAM -- Wayne Christian's Jennifer Price took first in the girls' meet at 25:54, while Doug Johnson placed second at 20:28 in the boys' event at Cresset Christian on Monday.

Martha Summerlin turned in a sixth-place finish for the Eagles' girls with a 31:22, while Justin Brathwaite finished 10th overall for the boys at 25:18.

Cresset won the girls' meet 21-37 and captured the boys' meet 19-43.

Wayne Christian returns to action on Sept. 5 at Goldsboro High.

Eastern Wayne swept all three doubles matches in its 5-4 win at home over New Bern on Monday.

The combinations of Katie Snell-LeAnna Lancaster, Smith-Gray and Guijarro-Walston paced the Warriors in doubles.

Snell and Lancaster claimed Eastern Wayne's only two singles wins of the afternoon.
