ECU Military Appreciation Day
East Carolina University will celebrate Military Appreciation Day on Saturday to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by the men and women of the armed forces and their families. ECU faces Southern Miss in a Conference USA football contest at 6 p.m. in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The day will feature many military festivities along with recognition of military dignitaries and hometown heroes. A discounted ticket price is available for all current and former military members and their immediate family members. Tickets are available for $15 with a military ID. The price includes a game ticket, and a concessions voucher for a hot dog and a Pepsi fountain drink. In addition ECU will be offering bus service to and from the game to participating military bases in eastern North Carolina, including Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Tickets are available on all participating military bases and through the ECU athletic ticket office at 1-800-DIAL-ECU. They may also be purchased the day of the game. RYSA meeting
The Rosewood Youth Sports Association is scheduled to meet Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Rosewood Middle School cafeteria. The meeting is open to everyone.
Norwayne Booster Club
The Norwayne Booster Club will meet Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Rally for a Cure Golf Classic
The 3rd Annual Rally for a Cure Golf Classic will be held Oct. 7 at Three Eagles Golf Course at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The fee is $45 per person, which includes cart and greens fee and dinner. There will be a putting contest at 11 a.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start for the tournament. The format is a four-person super ball with closest to the pin and longest drive contests, door prizes and a goodie bag for each golfer. The event is limted to 88 golfers. Wayne Co. AL Baseball Golf tourney
The Wayne County American Legion Baseball Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 12 at Lane Tree Golf Course with a rain date on Oct. 26. Registration will be held at noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $50 per player (includes two mulligans) and team or individual entries are welcome. A meal will be served following the tournament. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Feast of the East tennis tourney
There will be a one-day tennis tournament at Herman Park, in conjunction with the Feast of the East, at Herman Park on Oct. 29. There will be singles for juniors ages 10-16 and adults at the A and B Level. The entry fee is $20 and trophies will be awarded to all finalists.
