Warriors dominate Kinston in ECC soccer

Eastern Wayne's Samantha Frazer turned in a hat trick (three goals) and dished out four assists as the Warriors remained unbeaten in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference with a 7-0 win over Kinston.
Eastern Wayne improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the ECC.
Frazer scored twice in the first half and once in the second and assisted on two goals by Natalie Taylor and one each by Deniz Alemdar and Anne Archer. Taylor also added an assist on the first of five Warrior goals in the first half.
Eastern Wane outshot Kinston 23-1 on the game with goalie Carol Reinier saving one shot and posting her second shutout. Abby Irvin had nine saves in goal for the Vikings (1-6, 1-3 ECC).
In their first three games, the Warriors yielded 15 goals. They've given up just two goals in their last four with sweeper Jennifer Bircher anchoring the defense.
Eastern Wayne hosts Charles B. Aycock in league action on Monday.
WCDS tumbles
On the sure feet of senior Anna Wooten Gauss, Greenfield School was able to scrap past Wayne Country Day 3-2 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play on Friday.
Greenfield scored first when senior forward Laura Piggott split three defenders and finished for the 1-0 lead.
The Chargers answered in the 33rd minute on a goal by Georgia Crowe.
After the teams traded goals, the Lady Knights' goal coming from a cross from Gauss to sophomore forward Emily Shupe, the score remained tied until the 76th minute when Gauss posted the game-winner.
Wayne Country Day hosts Faith-Rocky Mount on Tuesday.

Panthers rout JK
KENLY -- North Johnston's Haley Newsome tallied her first career hat trick (three goals) as the Panthers defeated James Kenan 6-1 on Thursday in non-confernece action.
The win improves North Johnston to 6-1-1 overall heading into Monday's home game with North Lenoir.
Kenan dropped to 1-5.
Jenna Gudac added her 14th and 15th goals of the season, while Kelley Smith tallied a goal on a penalty kick late in the game.
Lauren Lewis had the lone goal for the Tigers.
