MOUNT OLIVE -- Heidi Busch finished third in the nation in kills per game and Mount Olive is ranked in four different team categories in the year-end NCAA Division II volleyball national statistics report.

Colby Mangum is ranked in the top 10 in blocks per game and Anna Luft is ranked in the top 20 in hitting percentage.

Busch, a 5-11 junior outside hitter from Fort Wayne, Ind., averaged 5.56 kills per game in 2004, which is the 15th-highest single-season average in Division II volleyball history since the NCAA adopted the 30-point format in 2001.

An all-Atlantic Region first-team selection, Busch ranked second nationally in total kills with 701.

Mangum, a 6-foot junior middle blocker from Wilmington, ranked 10th in the nation in blocks per game with a 1.51 average. An all-Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference honorable mention, she ranked as high as ninth this season and has been in the top 10 in blocks per game since mid-October.

Luft, a 5-10 sophomore middle hitter from Swansboro, ranked 20th in the nation with a .381 hitting percentage. An all-CVAC first-team selection, Luft ranked as high as No. 7 nationally in hitting percentage during the 2004 season.

In the team statistics, Mount Olive ranked No. 9 in the nation in blocks per game with a 3.02 average and had the 11th-best hitting percentage at .289. The Trojans also ranked 26th in the nation with 15.96 kills per game and 45th with 2.27 service aces per game.

Mount Olive posted a record of 24-11 overall and finished second in the CVAC with a 15-3 mark. The Trojans made their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship, earning the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Regional at Lock Haven, Pa. Mount Olive fell to No. 3 seed Indiana (Pa.) in the first round.
