Babe Ruth baseball -- Wayne County 10s top Wilson

The Eastern North Carolina Babe Ruth District Four Baseball Tournament continued in the rain on Wednesday night at Maury and at Greene Central High School.
In the nightcap of the 10-under division game played at Maury, Wayne County held of Johnston County 9-8.
Wayne County was led by Tyler Brown, who finished 2-for-4. Adam Pate, Blake Sutton, Justin Barber, Jacob Sasser, Jeremy Taylor and Hunter Barnett had one hit each for Wayne County. Richard Bailey had a double for Johnston County.
In the first 10-under game, Wilson County West defeated Wilson County East 12-1.
At Greene Central High School, the 11-under game between Wayne and Wilson County was canceled due to rain. The teams will play again on Friday at 6 p.m. Wilson leads the best-of-three series one game to none. The third game will be played on Friday at 8:30 p.m. if necessary.
Wilson County's 12-under team defeated Greene County 9-2 on Wednesday as Zach Chase had two hits to lead Greene County.
William Prince and Cullen Carter had two hits each for Wilson County.
13-under Babe Ruth
ECAP Pirates 10, North Johnston 5 -- Adam Brannan picked up the win and had two hits, while Nick Barefoot and Patrick Myers also had two hits. Dylan Jones had a home run and two hits for the Pirates, who improved to 9-2.
